D Comes Before M

Yesterday was a good day.
I made a plan and I worked my plan.
I got up early, went to the gym, convinced my workout partner that we needed to run a 5k together, and officially started some 5k training. Side Note: I know that "5k training" sounds ridiculous when most of you are reading blogs that are "half marathon training" or even "marathon training" but look.. They all started with 5ks okay?
Anyway, I had meal planned for the entire week and wrote down exactly what I was going to be eating and when I was going to eat it. I had even food prepped for most of the week too. I stuck to my meal plan exactly yesterday.
I even got in all 64oz of water like it was no big deal. #rollinlikeabigshot

Yesterday was a good day.

I went to a "thing" last night (details on that to come later. i'm such a tease) and the guest speaker started with:
"Tonight I'm going to lift your head up, off of your shoulders, spin it around three times and drop it back down."
 She delivered.

She also said "You can't motivate someone else. You can inspire them, but you can't motivate them. Motivation comes from within and to be motivated you have to first be disciplined. D comes before M in the dictionary and discipline comes before motivation."

I took that comment and immediately applied it to approximately 10 situations.
So today, I leave you with that.
D comes before M.

  6. So, so true! Thanks for sharing that! I don't know how you get up at 5 am and work out...I can barely get up at 6:30 to get ready for work. I guess that means I need to get disciplined and just do it! I'm starting some 5k training tonight too--good luck with your training!!

  7. YES we all started with 5ks! And then 10ks, and now a couple of half marathons. You'll have such a good time you'll get hooked on races!

  8. A 5k is a big deal. I ran 2 and it was tough. And I love the part about motivation. I just can't get motivated to workout but it is easy to inspire me. Blogs, photos, and even pinterest finds all inspire me to workout but I need to find the motivation on my own.

  9. Dang girl. Love this and it's what I needed to read! I've always had motivation but not the determination...maybe that's why I've failed so many times before? Hopefully this time I have it right and am determined first.

Way to go on having a kick ass day yesterday!

  11. Running a 5k is hard work!!! We all started somewhere you can do this girl it just takes dedication! Have realistic expectations for yourself (that's always so hard for me) next thing you know YOU will be the one training for the half!!!!
