I truly don't know what made me think about this story this morning, but I did and now I'm going to share it.
Who caught me: Mom
What I lied about: Eating breakfast
It was in Elementary school, I have no idea what grade. I was young, so I'm thinking it was 3rd grade or younger. All morning my mom had been nagging me about one thing or another.
She does this really annoying thing where she's ridiculously chipper in the mornings. I can not tell you how often she would wake us up for school by singing. I also can not tell you how annoying my siblings and I found her morning attitude. She does it on purpose and she thinks she's hilarious. Now that I'm out of the house and I hear about her doing it to my little brother, I think it's hilarious too. Shoot, I'll probably do the same thing to my kids. Anyway, back in the day, it wasn't funny.
So she's nagging me. Then she starts nagging me about eating breakfast. I didn't want breakfast. So I didn't eat it.
As I'm walking out the door to catch the bus, Mom asks me again if I've eaten breakfast. I say yes, I ate a granola bar, in probably the snottiest tone I could muster.
Cut to after school. Mom gets home from work, looks in the cabinet, then asks me again if I had eaten breakfast that morning.
Again, I say yes, I ate a granola bar. About that time mom holds up the box of granola bars.. unopened.
Haha, I've done stuff like that before. I never lie about important things, only little things!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Guess you should have at least opened the box.
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious! I love when kids don't think to carry out their plots a little further to make it believable. You know... open the box and take one out.
ReplyDeleteCaught!!!! Sounds like something I would do!
