#backthatazzup Christmas Edition! {Part 1}

It snowed last night.
I know, NEWSFLASH.
The first snow of the season.
One massive snowstorm to start the season.

I sort of get just a teeny, tiny bit excited about this first snow. Just because I remember being younger and being excited about the possibility of missing school and fun things like that.
No worries, the excitement usually leaves me in about 30 seconds.
I hate winter and I hate snow.

The exciting thing is that this morning my police officer neighbor (previously mentioned here) shoveled off the stairs and cleaned off my car.
Then my landlord's grandson-in-law shoveled the parking lot and took the time to shovel my car out.
All before I even woke up.
Tis the season to be neighborly!
Now I feel like I need to bake some cookies or something..

Anyway, to kick off your Friday morning, I gathered some Christmas goodies for you today!
Some of my favorite Christmas songs! Part 1 of course, because I have a Christmas song obsession, so yea.

Let's begin with a little 90s Christmas classic - Nsync's Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays
I mean, really? I JAM to this song.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Next up, Glee's version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.
I love this song in general, but this version is just so good!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Oh and here's a treat for you guys - Bette Midler's version of Sisters from White Christmas.
I almost can't stop laughing long enough to form a sentence to explain this one. Basically my grandma and Bette Midler are the same person. And she doesn't think so, which makes it about 67 times more hilarious than it already is. Bette Midler's Vegas show was on tv a few years ago and that was the moment I knew my grandma was Bette Midler. So there you go.
Oh, I also love the song Sisters.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Well next is a true Christmas classic - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, sung by Judy Garland.
I love this song. Probably my all time favorite Christmas song if we're being honest. However, I don't love any version more than I love Judy Garland's version. Obsessed.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Finally, a little hometown lovin - The 12 Days of Christmas by Straight No Chaser
If you only listen to ONE song on today's list, it needs to be this one. It's not your average rendition of 12 Days of Christmas. Also, I really, really encourage you to check out Straight No Chaser. Start on Youtube and you'll be sucked in for hours.

So check your shit and listen to Christmas music.
Don't be Grinchy.

And while you're at it, #backthatazzup with Whitney.

I'll be doing some more of this today..

And responding to my 250 emails.
And probably baking cookies..

Just Your Average Thursday

This is going to be fun..
Let me paint you a picture..

It's 7am.
I came into work early to get a few things done when I assumed I'd have the place to myself.
But it's Thursday and on Thursdays I spend most of the day working in the Athletic Academic Center.
Oh athletes.. How.. interesting you are!

At IU the Athletic Academic Center is in the football stadium, right next to the huge (new!) weight room.
So it's a completely common thing for me to see athletes walking around half-dressed.
This is the part where you can get jealous of my job.

Anyway, this morning I came into work at 7am.
None of the faculty members usually get there until 8am, occasionally a few stroll in at 7:30am. Rarely do I see anyone before then.
Good. Some time all to myself.

So I walk in and I assume I'm the first one there because all of the lights are out.
I start walking through the Academic Center and about pee my pants when I see 2 athletes (i later realize they are baseball players) asleep on the couches in the dark.
However, while this scared me, it's not an unusual thing. The athletes are always taking naps in the Academic Center. Shoot, half of the time my job is to just make sure they wake up when their alarms go off so they don't miss class or practice.

So, I decided to just leave the lights off because I knew I wouldn't really need them on once I opened my laptop and mostly because I'm a sucker and I figured those boys needed sleep.
So off I go, in the dark, to my little corner.

This is the part where my life turns into a circus.
Serious reality show shit.

First I hear shouting. Not unusual.
Next I hear laughing. Not unusual.
Then I doors banging. Slightly unusual.
Then the lights turn on.
It's only 7:15am! Who is disturbing my precious time of alone-ness?!

Then next thing I see is someone running across the Academic Center.. Naked.

I just have nothing else to say.
I mean, that's one hell of a way to start the day!
The greatest moment was when the rest of the guys noticed me in the corner, mouth totally hanging open.

I don't know how I'm supposed to focus on anything else today.
It's just not going to happen.

December Goals

Today's post was supposed to be yesterday's post.
Why wasn't it posted yesterday?
That's a good question.
I scheduled it the night before and woke up yesterday morning assuming it had posted. You know what happens when you assume.. Of course I didn't double check until 9:30am and by then I was ticked and decided it was too late to post it. Then my email stopped working. The world was against me yesterday morning and I did not appreciate it.

So here's yesterday's post. Or today's post. Or whatever.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Oh me, oh my!
How is it December?
How is it time already to make a new set of monthly goals?

Let's talk about 2013 for a second. How is it almost over?
Freakin ridiculous.
Also, friendly reminder, ^^^ that ^^^ is the correct spelling of ridiculous. Rediculous is not correct. Again, just a friendly reminder.

Let's get this show on the road and see how well I did with my goals in November.
  • HANG BEDROOM WALL DECOR! Done, FINALLY!
  • #payitforward Done.
  • Be Spontaneous! Done, multiple times!
  • Lose 6lbs! It is officially official! I lost 6.5lbs as of December 1st! I'm all pumped and shit!
  • Sell my Ebay stuff! Dangit, not done.
  • Work on my procrastination "issue". Eh, Gonna be an ongoing thing.
  • NaNoWriMo I just had too much going on this month to devote any real amount of time to this. I'm sad.
  • Go to bed with no dirty dishes every, single night. Half. I almost always went to bed with an empty sink.
  • No "grunge" days. Eh, no.
  • 64oz of water a day! Done! Yes!
  • Family time, family time, family time!!! Done, Done, Done!

Final Tally: 6.5/11

Not bad, I'm not mad about it.

And now..

  • #payitforward
  • Be Spontaneous
  • Lose another 6lbs
  • 64oz of water a day, again! (really want to stay on top of this)
  • Organize my recipes I've printed out. (they're a huge mess right now and stuffed in random drawers or laying around my apartment)
  • Be a better blogger.
  • Watch The Grinch no less than 15 times.
  • Start prepping my 2014 goals.
Short-ish list, but I really want to focus on being a better blogger. Streamlining my blogging process, responding to emails and comments quicker, produce better posts, and prep for a big blogging year in 2014. I think I have my hands full with all of that.

Who else is making goals? You should, they rock.
Then after you make them, you should tell me what they are because I'm nosey.
