Vacation Reading List!

Hello my favorite people! Missed me? Well I miss you!!

But I'm still on vacation! Actually I'm currently sitting in a McDonald's bumming some free wi-fi. Oh the classy life I lead!

But I figured while I was already here I'd write a short and sweet little post about the books I'm reading while I'm at the beach.. or the pool.. or relaxing during some Florida thunderstorms.. Jealous yet?

Shut Up and Kiss Me by Christie Craig

Those are the 5 books I brought with me at least. Pretty random and good mix of different kinds of writing. Some murder mystery mixed with some trashy romance novels mixed with some thought-provoking fiction.. all good things!

Hope everyone has had a fabulous week! I'll be back on Monday with a little vacation recap!

Workout Must Haves - Guest Post by Kate!

Guess what, guess what, GUESS WHAT!! I have another special guest post for today! *insert squeal of excitement* My favorite Disney loving Jersey girl, Kate!!

You may remember her from the time I bragged on her here or the time I did a guest post for her while she was rocking the Mickey ears and loving life in Cinderella's castle. Clearly I'm not jealous about that at all..

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Hello everyone! I'm Kate from Not Your Typical Jersey Girl and I'm filling for Kay today while she's on vacation.

I normally blog about things that are relative to my life. Mainly beauty, fashion, shopping, entertaining, and of course my journey through weight loss.
Today, I'm sharing my 5 Workout Must Haves.

1. Get some good running socks that are moisture wicking. I used to run in plain old cotton socks I got from Target. Maybe some of you do too. And it may not be a problem. But when you start logging more miles, you're feet start to hurt. And when your feet hurt, your miserable. I prefer the R-Gear Drymax Dry-As-A-Bone Medium No Show from Road Runner Sports. These are what I have found are best for me. They aren't cheap, but I no longer have foot problems. Trust me.....they're worth it!
 2. Speaking of feet, go and get yourself fitted for a good pair of running shoes. Again, I go to Road Runner Sports. They have an awesome machine called the Shoe Dog.
Basically, you hop on a treadmill and run for about 30 seconds. Then they analyze your running style and match you up with a type of shoe (stability, neutral, etc). Then you pick your sneakers.

I'm generally a stability runner, but lately I'm more neutral (since knee surgery). my fave sneaks have been the Women's Brooks Glycerin 10. They are so comfortable and supportive.
3. My hair can be a beast sometimes. I CAN NOT workout without some kind of headband. I stumbled upon Brady Bands and have been hooked ever since. Not only are they some of the cheapest and most stylish headbands out there, but they DO NOT MOVE!!! I can run 3 miles, take a spin class or do some interval training and they don't budge a millimeter! Plus, they do custom orders AND have fabulous customer service. The absolute best part about Brady Bands is that at least 10% of every purchase goes to childhood cancer research.

4. If you are like me, you need music before you can move one step when you are working out. While I use my iPhone or iPod to workout, the apple ear buds are just not made for any sort of substantial movement. A few years ago at an expo prior to a half marathon, we stumbled upon YurBuds. YurBuds are my fave headphones to run with. They fit them to your ear (because all ears are not the same size!) and they you give them a go. They stay put when running. I never have to fidget with them ever!

5. Last, I always feel more motivated to workout when I look good. My fave workout gear comes from Old Navy. I would say that about 75% of my active wear comes from old navy. I love all their dry fit items, plus they have lots of cute colors!

Do you have any of these items in your closet? Stop by Not Your Typical Jersey Girl and let me know!

How to Kill Time At Work - Guest Post by Adriana

I have a SURPRISE for everyone today! I'm a little star struck actually, because one of my daily reads is here on The Best of Intentions to guest post. Adriana from Dog Hair is An Accessory. SHUT UP.

For those who don't know her - you need to.
For those who do know her - It's okay, I'm in love with her too.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

HEY GUYS! I'm super excited to be guest posting for Kay today! I'm Adriana and I blog over at Dog Hair Is An Accessory. Over there I'm a mess with my boyfriend Tom and our dog Lil but you should come visit and laugh at how embarrassing I am.

So I just got back from a weekend long bachelorette party (which I'm still recovering from) and since the wedding is in 3 weeks I have a lot of wedding on the brain. That means I won't be able to focus until the wedding is over. I am a bridesmaid so it's not like I'm just creepily obsessing over a wedding. even tho I would totally do that. So because I can't focus at work I'm being SUPER unproductive. So I present you with...

1. Blog.

Reading and writing blog posts is by far my fav way to pass time. In fact, I'm writing this at work RIGHT NOW. When you hear someone coming just switch to your work program/site and you're set! Also I like to type my posts using Outlook email so that if I don't minimize it in time, it toally looks like I'm typing out something important.

2. Pinterest.

This is an obvious one. I think we've all had those "I'll just go on pinterest to find (insert any recipie or DIY project here)" and then we end up scolling and repinning for hours. Once I spent the better part of an 8 hour day reorganizing my boards. It had to be done and what better time to do it!
3. Troll Twitter, Instagram, and Vine.

Duh. If you aren't on twitter you're doing it wrong. I hated twitter at first but now it's my fav! Plus if you blog twitter is a greatttt way to connect with other bloggers. Vine is just hilarious, you will want headphones for that one. Instagram is super entertaining and since I follow like a gazillion people, everytime I refresh there is some new pictrue of what someone had for lunch.

4. Add emojis to all your contacts.

BEST APP EVER. Also I have already done this. I have a different one for every contact. Here are my favs

Sasa is Sara from Sara In Texas. Laura is Tom's sister, fellow shoe lover and bride to be and since Siri has to know me, I'm there with my crown, because I'm a princess.

5. Make a billion lists.

You can make a list for anything and everything. What you have left to work on, what you will be doing tonight, what you will be doing this weekend, what you need from the grocery store, blog topics, reasons you hate love your job, etc.

6. Catch up on personal emails.

Not that I'm overrun with comments but comment emails build up quick! On top of the replies to comments you've left. Plus I feel I've been using email a lot lately to keep in touch with out of the area friends so I end up having about a zillion a day. Also I have to check out all the pormotional email ones!

7. Plan a vacation you can't afford.

I like to start on Southwest and start making plans. Sometimes we're going to Europe so I have to check out Travelzoo and see if they have any deals. Then I make an absolutely pointless list of things to pack. Then I think about what activities Lil would be interested in. Also I go on OpenTable and try and find restaurants in the area that sound yummy and would be within our travel budget that doesn't exist.

8. Online shopping.

my favs are DSW, Kate Spade, all the member sites (to sign up and start wasting time go to Gilt, Rue La La, HauteLook, One Kings Lane, Groupon, Living Social)

9. Eat.

No brainer here. I suggest Pretzel M&Ms, Handi Snaks, Dunkaroos, doughnuts, Chinese food.

10. Do assigned work (as a last resort)

We all know it sucks but it is an option to use up the time in the day until the day is over. Plus your boss may be impressed if you do this one.

So there you have it. My favorite ways to kill time while at work. I hop you enjoyed them. Come visit my blog, follow me on twitter, instagram, pinterest and facebook and spend some of that time getting to know me!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Now try to tell me you don't love her. You do, I knew it. Go check her bloggy blog out! I particularly loved this post about telling your Real Life Friends about your blog!

And while you're at it, you better be following me on the twitter and the instagram so you can stalk my vacation!

June Goals

So I didn't do a weekend recap yesterday because this was my weekend..

Pretty self explanatory, I hope? You already know I love the Hoosiers, so obviously I'm going to mention that they did win their Regional this past weekend and will be going to the Super Regional in Florida this coming weekend. Whoop whoop!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

So another month has come and gone. May is over and June is here! Before we get too far into June, let's see how I did with my May Goals.
  • Only have 4 rest days max! Fail. I definitely had more than 4. No excuses.
  • Complete 2 things on my apartment to-do list. Done. I made a Fabric Bin for underneath my TV stand. And I finally got around to cleaning my make-up brushes. I also started sanding pictures frames for my future gallery wall!
  • Read and finish TWO books. Done! Check out my Book Nook page for updates!
  • Write a blog post at least 4 days a week. I'm going to call this done! I'm pretty sure I did, but I'm not going to go back and double check. #lazy
  • Cook 2 new recipes. Done. I made Guacamole Salsa and a Fiesta Chicken dish and Southern Girl Gets Fit's fried rice and Jello Shots AND a new quinoa recipe. Boom.
  • Do something spontaneous. Done.
  • Re-do my resume and apply for a new job! Done x4. Still a work in progress though. Ugh.
Final Tally: 6/7. I'm pretty darn satisfied with that!

My June goals were really hard to come up with this time. I'll be on vacation for several days of the month, so these were hard, but here they are. My June goals..

 photo junegoals2013_zps1eeb3d9e.jpg
  • Enjoy my vacation.
  • Have a yard sale.
  • Continue applying for jobs.
  • Read FIVE books.
  • Pay for someone else's dinner. #payitforward
  • Paint gallery wall frames.
  • Install a new shower head.
  • Complete 2 more things on my apartment to-do list. (never ending list, i swear)
  • Do something spontaneous. (this will probably be on my list every month from now until forever. i love it)
  • Start my 5k training.
You may have raised an eyebrow at my last item on the list. I truly have no idea when running a 5k became so important to me, but now it is. I absolutely feel like I have something to prove. Maybe that's the wrong kind of motivation to have, but it's what I'm working with. I wish I could say I want to do it because I want to be healthy or I want to lose weight. While both of those things are true, that's at the bottom of the list of reasons I want to do this. The rest of the list is filled with names.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I've mentioned I'm going to Florida this month. So things on the blog are going to be a little different. Some awesome guest posts, some silly little posts by me, and some days without a darn thing. If you wish to live through me while I'm in paradise Florida, follow me on Insta and Twitter.  Love you guys! Also if you're curious what happens to my hair in the humidity, here's a gem for you.
